Chvrches lead singer Lauren Mayberry has hit back after vile online posts.

The 27-year-old singer has spoken publically about the misogynistic abuse she receives online.

After sharing a comment she received on Instagram which threatened to violently abuse the Scottish frontwoman, she stated: “My band is lucky enough to have some of the most awesome, supportive and respectful fans in the world and we are so excited to be in the studio making an album to share with them. Yet, on a daily basis, we still receive communications like this.”

“These people never learn that violence against women is unacceptable. But they also never learn that women will not be shamed and silenced and made to disappear.”

“I am not going anywhere. So bring it on, motherf******. Let’s see who blinks first.”

The synth-pop band are currently working on the follow-up to their 2013 debut album ‘The Bones Of What You Believe’.

Meanwhile, Chvrches have today (24th Apr 2015) denied rumours that they will appear at Glastonbury this summer, with V Festival their only scheduled festival appearance so far.

The trio will perform at the dual-site festival, which will take place from the 22nd – 23rd Aug 2015, alongside the likes of Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, Hozier, Stereophonics and Paloma Faith.

V Festival’s bill will be topped off by dancefloor filler Calvin Harris and indie-rock hit-makers Kasabian.
