Pharrell is working with Adele on new album

Pharrell Williams has revealed that he is working with Adele on her new album.

With 46 singles (including 38 as a featured artist) and 39 guest appearances, Pharrell is renowned for his collaborations.

Having worked his magic on eight Top 10 singles - including No. 1 hits ‘Blurred Lines’ and ‘Get Lucky’ - the songwriter and producer is well equipt to be working on the follow up to Adele’s 2011 hit record ’21’.

Meanwhile Adele, who has shied away from the limelight following the birth of her baby boy back in 2012, has five Top 10 tracks under her belt. Making the two a perfect pair.

Speaking at Cannes the ‘Happy’ hat lover, who has long been rumoured to be working on the record, confirmed the Adele collaboration.

However, as Pharrell explained the busy mother doesn’t have much time on her hands.

He said: “I’ve seen her recently. She’s kinda like, ‘OK guys, I’m gonna open my diary for 20 minutes’. So it’s like, OK, you have 20 minutes, or 32 minutes really.”

“Then she gives it to you and closes it up and disappears, and she’s off with her beautiful boy – and that’s what it’s all about.”

Williams added that it can be a struggle to get an artist to work with you because you have to convince their label.

He added: “We’ve had to do a lot of fighting and convincing people, whether it’s a label or the management.”

“You’re exhausted [after it], but you’ve aligned the stars. If the management isn’t into it, it might not work, if the radio isn’t into it, it might not work, if the label isn’t into it, it might not work. You don’t always need a label today.”
