Prince will release a new record titled ‘The Hit & Run Album’.

According to his band 3rdEyeGirl, made up of Donna Grantis, Ida Nielsen and Hannah Ford Welton, Prince will release the new album “soon”.

Grantis’ husband, Joshua Welton - who produced Prince’s 2014 record ‘Art Official Age’ - helped write the new LP.

The band told BBC 6 Music: “It’s phenomenal, there are so many hits on this album. It’s super experimental.”

They also hinted that the new album will be funky, and perfect for Prince’s dedicated fans.

They added: “Super hardcore Prince fans that know every song he’s ever recorded - we refer to them as ‘The Purple Collective’ or ‘The Purple Army’ - this album is absolutely for them, because it’s super funky.”

“It’s weird, there’s a lot of experimental sound. It’s just hit after hit and definitely caters to those fans who just love to hear what Prince has to say, rather than wanting to always hear that classic Purple Rain Prince sound.”

3rdEyeGirl added that funky new song ‘Hardrocklover’, which emerged online recently, will be the record’s lead single.

Not too long to wait until you can hear more! - ‘The Hit And Run Album’ should be released by the end of 2015.
